Filming in Alum Pot

We have been made aware that a television company (Candour Productions), supported by two local cavers, will be filming at Alum Pot on the following dates:

  • Monday 4th October – Preparation
  • Sunday 17th October – Rehearsal
  • Monday 18th October – Sound recording
  • Saturday 6th November – Filming
  • Sunday 7th November – Filming

They have permission from the landowner to be there, and there may be a sizable team in and around the entrance. They have politely suggested that for safety reasons, cavers avoid Alum Pot on these dates. We appreciate that this is a busy time of year with universities starting back, so the timing is unfortunate. We advise that if heading up there on these dates, the pothole may be busier than usual, please share the space and take extra care around the top of the pothole.

Entering via Long Churn and Dollytubs should avoid the congestion, and you might even get yourself onto television on arrival at Dollytubs ledge!

Ultimately however, if you want to avoid congestion and hassle, picking from one of our hundreds of other excellent potholes might be sensible on these dates; Why not browse our topos and descriptions for some inspiration?

Good luck to the filming team, we can’t wait to see the results!
