Rumbling Hole tree removal

Another casualty of some of the storms in late 2021 was a tree overhangling Rumbling Hole on Leck Fell which had fallen and partially blocked the entrance pitch.

On 16th May, Martin Holroyd undertook a difficult and technical operation to dismantle the tree just in time to avoid a downpour.

The descent route was inspected and loose soil and rock was cleared from ledges.

Although the immediate hazard has now been removed, all visitors are reminded of the importance of making their own inspections of the tree used as a belay and the ledges on-route for any loose debris that may have resulted from these works.
