Come and say hello at Hidden Earth 2023!
Hidden Earth is only three weeks away, and we’re so pleased to see our national caving conference back up and running for the first time since 2019.
We understand that the lecture schedule is almost full (only one or two small slots remaining for any last-minute submissions), so it looks set to be an awesome weekend.
There will be talks on discoveries in our region, including the maze-cave discoveries at The Stang between Reeth and Barnard Castle, where the team may be on the verge of the next big master cave, and some major extensions to Fairy Holes in Weardale, including the discovery of sizable new river passage, and more finds in the North York Moors.
There’s also the Northern Roundup, by Frank Pearson and the Scottish Roundup by Alan Jeffreys.
Once again CNCC will be attending to showcase the work we have been involved with or have supported since the last Hidden Earth, covering conservation, training, access, anchoring and promoting caving.
We will have leaflets to promote our new ‘Try Caving’ events that now form a standard part of our training offerings. These can be taken away by anyone who might find them useful to hand out to northern novices or venues.
The CNCC stall won’t be staffed for the full conference (we also like to go to lectures, shop for new caving kit, and drink beer). However, several members of our team are attending and we will try to have someone on-hand at the stall as much as possible. Please do stop by, say hello, ask any questions or make any suggestions.
We look forward to seeing lots of you in Portishead on 15-17th September!
