CNCC to fund electric vehicle charging on Leck Fell

In a ground-breaking move towards sustainability and innovation, the CNCC is proud to announce plans to install a network of electric vehicle (EV) chargers at the iconic Leck Fell. Known for its popular caves such as Lost Johns' and Notts Pot, Leck Fell is set to become the first caving hotspot in the UK to combine cutting-edge green technology with the caving community.

The initiative comes in response to growing concerns about climate change and aims to support the caving community's transition to more sustainable travel. CNCC’s Chairperson remarked, “Our members are deeply committed to the environment, and this project demonstrates our forward-thinking approach. By providing EV chargers, we ensure cavers can explore Leck Fell with minimal environmental impact, knowing their vehicles will be fully charged for the drive home.”

The project will see the installation of no fewer than eight state-of-the-art charging points, strategically placed across the fell. Each charger will feature weatherproof panels and wind-resistant stands, designed to withstand the harsh conditions of this remote location. Plans even include a solar-powered charging hub complete with a heated waiting shelter for cavers to enjoy a snack and warm drink while their cars charge.

The project is set to break ground within the next couple of months pending unanimous funding approval. Keep an eye on CNCCs social media and website for updates on this exciting endeavour.
