(Casterton Fell)
Hazards and Warnings
Not specifically related, but we have received reports that Hidden Pot, which is immediately opposite side of the track to Bull Pot of the Witches (and would once have connected to Cavern 32) is extremely unstable and has shown some major movement of large boulders. Hidden Pot is unlikely to attract many visitors in its own right as there isn't much to it, but we are including this warning here just in case any groups decide to go exploring while waiting to descend (or for others to ascend) Bull Pot of the Witches. In general, we suggest keeping well away from Hidden Pot, as enticing as the entrance appears.
The tree used to rig the main hang of the Direct Route has now been felled after it rotted from ash dieback. THERE ARE NO LONGER ANY APPROPRIATE BELAYS FOR THIS ROUTE. Cavers are advised to use the Chimney Route until further notice. The Direct Route has been temporarily removed from the rigging topo. We hope to install a replacement anchor or two in due course to reinstate this route and if successful we will republish the topo with the Direct Route shown again.
