(Great Whernside)
Hazards and Warnings
Knowledge of both ends of the Dowber Gill Passage (the connection to Providence Pot) should be obtained before attempting the through trip and settled weather is required. The through-trip is deceptively strenuous and not recommended for novices.

Access
No restrictions
No permission is required. Please be courtous to land owners and follow an reasonable requests they make. Park with respect and don't block gateways etc.
Best approached via the public footpath at Park Rash. Located on access land so no permission required. A trip in and out of Dow Cave is a popular and excellent trip for supervised novices, however be aware of risks of flooding and loose boulders in the furthest reaches of the system. If attempting a through trip to Providence Pot (via Dowbergill Passage), knowledge of both ends of the system is strongly recommended, and cavers are advised that this trip requires very low water and settled weather, and the physical challenge should not be underestimated.
