(Leck Fell)
Hazards and Warnings
We have received a report that since initial discovery, rocks around several of the pitches and climbs have started to become loose. This is mainly due to the high volume of traffic the cave is currently receiving. Cavers are urged to be extra-vigilant and clear loose material as they progress and avoid being beneath eachother on climbs and pitches.
The in-situ up-rope to Levelling Up (4th pitch) in F'ing Hopeless Pot is prone to damage due to rub points and the high volume of traffic this cave receives. Of course, the CNCC advises against us of in-situ ropes in all situations, but we are realistic about this and aware that many cavers will use this rope regardless of our advice, as accessing Levelling Up is extremely difficult without it. If choosing to use this rope, we urge extreme caution and risk mitigation, as any damage may not be evident from below. We would like to ask all cavers visiting F'ing Hopeless to consider taking your own short length of rope for this pitch (~13m) and, if you do choose to go against CNCC advice and use the in-situ rope, and you find it in a dangerous condition, please REMOVE the damaged rope immediately and replace with your own before anyone else ascends. You may wish to choose to anonomously 'donate' your rope to the cave for the benefit of future like-minded visitors.

Access
Book online
Advanced online booking is required. You can also email the booking seretary.
Access to this cave is available to everyone all year round, but must be booked prior to your trip to satisfy the landowner’s requirements for managed access (and out of courtesy to other cavers too). One booking may be made per cave entrance per day. The CNCC has created a simple online booking system to allow individuals to book access to this (and other) caves using an intuitive calendar-based approach.
Note: First time users will need to register before being able to log into the system. The process should be self-explanatory but if you have any questions please email our system administrator via the address below.
Bookings made via the online system are live immediately.
Anyone wishing to book access without using the online system can do so by emailing the system administrator. Please include details of which cave you would like to book and what date:
booking@cncc.org.uk
Please note that if you are arranging your booking by email, rather than via the online system, you MUST wait for confirmation from the system administrator that your chosen date is available and the booking has been finalised BEFORE visiting the cave. Please allow two weeks’ notice in the eventuality the administrator is on holiday.
