(Gaping Gill)
Hazards and Warnings
Note: Flood original entrance is less commonly used these days - For the more commonly used entrance, only a short distance away, which includes a rigging topo and description see Flood Entrance (Wades).
Towards the end of 2017, and again in January 2020 there have been substantial collapses of the traverse around the top of Mud Hall in the Gaping Gill system. On each occasion, the traverse was restored by volunteers, with a rope to demonstrate the route. However, this traverse is clearly on-the-move and another collapse may happen. Cavers visiting Mud Hall must be particularly cautious negotiating this traverse.
