Access

Heaning Wood Bone Cave is on private land and permission is not given to visit.

This is an archaeological site on what is effectively the landowner's garden. Martin Stables who did the excavation under UCLAN (University of Central Lancashire), now the University of Lancashire, had an agreement with Mrs Redshaw. Since Martin's departure to another country, he has passed over communication to the Northern Boggarts (a Dales-based caving club). Anyone wishing to learn about the cave should therefore contact the Northern Boggarts via Tony Brown (abrown.boggarts@gmail.com) who is the CNCC Archaeology Coordinator. This cave has important scientific and archaeological relevance but is of no interest to cavers generally.

You can find details of the archaeology via CNCC newsletters issues 18 and 19.

This cave is NOT on access land. Click here for more information.
