Access

Heaning Wood Bone Cave is on private land (owned by Mrs Redshaw, as of 2023) and permission is not normally given. This is an archaeological site on what is effectively the landowner's garden. Martin Stables who has done the excavation under UCLAN (University of Central Lancashire) supervision, had an agreement with Mrs Redshaw which since his departure to another country, he has passed over to the Northern Boggarts (a Dales-based caving club). Anyone wishing to visit this cave should therefore contact the Northern Boggarts via Tony Brown (abrown.boggarts@gmail.com) who is also the contact for Bowland area caves. There is no permit as such, but Tony may be able to arrange access. In the event you are unable to contact Tony, your best option is to try other contacts via the Northern Boggarts website. This cave is unlikely to be of interest to sporting cavers but has important scientific and archeological relevance.

This cave is NOT on access land. Click here for more information.
