Hazards and Warnings
Please note that we have received a report (June 2024) that a number of potentially quite new spit-type anchors with in-situ hangers have appeared on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th pitches of Meregill, on the third pitch these take a different route avoiding the climb up to the traverse. These are reported to be quite loose. Please be aware that the only anchors shown on our topo and endorsed by CNCC are the P-type stainless steel resin bonded anchors (see our Equipment > Anchor Types page for an image if you are not familiar). The new spit/hanger anchors are not CNCC-installed and do not feature on our rigging topo and we are unable to vouch for their integrity or safety.
Meregill is extremely flood responsive and can quickly become impassable.
