Entrance via the mine level is extremely unstable and requires flood-prone low-airspace ducks. New entrance engineered direct from surface via aven joins just beyond this wet section of the cave (18m entrance pitch). Best approach is from Whaw via public footpath, passing High Faggergill on your left, and then continuing the solid access land track beyond High Faggergill. Parking in Whaw is limited and you may need to park on the main Reeth to Tan Hill Road at the Whaw junction. Alternatively pass through the hamlet and then, just after a steep hairpin bend, a few cars may fit on the verge opposite a public footpath. Take this footpath (Mell Close Lane) to join the footpath to High Faggergill.
