Return to SRT Training

Back in March, the CNCC was pleased to welcome Ian Patrick as our new Training Officer. Ian brought the potent combination of enthusiasm and ambition to see the caver training offerings of the CNCC improved and made more accessible to northern cavers.

Covid put a halt to initial plans, however, with some needle-shaped light at the end of the tunnel, we are now starting to develop a calendar of events for 2021 in hope that they can happen.

Ian has been working with our Webmaster and Treasurer to create a simple, intuitive page detailing all our current training events and a simple signup system with integrated Paypal payment.

This is a new system, so if you encounter any issues, or have any questions or feedback please do let our Webmaster or Training Officer know.

To kick things off, Ian has arranged two ‘return to SRT workshops’ for mid-February, aimed at helping those who want to brush up their existing ropework skills or regain confidence following a period away from caving. The course will run on both Saturday and Sunday 13-14th February and will be able to happen providing North Yorkshire remains in tier two (or has returned to tier two or equivalent after whatever January brings). Failing that we will aim to reschedule.

All the details are on the training page above, with event specifics automatically emailed to you after registration. Availability is six people per session on a first-come first-served basis.

We’ll be adding more events in due course not just limited to ropework. Follow us on Facebook or sign up to our mailing list to stay informed.
