The CNCC welcomes input from any individual regardless of club affiliation. In fact, we positively encourage input from as wide a section of the caving community as possible.
Therefore, although the democratic structure of CNCC is rooted mostly in clubs (a consequence of our history), we aspire to support and represent the entire northern caving community, clubs and individuals alike.
In 2016 we introduced the Committee role of the Individual Caver (IC) Representative. This is an individual who is elected at the AGM each year by a vote of all attendees (as individuals, not clubs). The role of the IC Representative is to provide a democratic voice for individuals who cave in our region.
If there is something you wish to raise as an individual, you are welcome to do so directly by attending any of our meetings, or via our IC representative (icrep@cncc.org.uk). Please do let our IC representative or Secretary know as much in advance as possible so we can schedule time for a discussion, although we always try to accommodate on-the-day items as best as possible.
The IC Representative has one vote on our Committee and may also propose and second motions.
The Individual Caver (IC) Representative can be any individual. They will be elected NOT by the voting clubs, but instead by all individual attendees at our Annual General Meeting.
The IC Representative will be expected to try to attend the three Committee meetings that we have each year and to provide input and proposals for how the CNCC can be working to better serve the needs of all cavers, and not just those represented by our Committee clubs.
If you are interested in standing for this role, you need to submit notification of your intention to stand to the CNCC Secretary eight weeks before the Annual General Meeting, with a statement of why you are standing for the role that can be circulated. You would ideally need to be able to attend the AGM itself. If you would like to discuss the role then please contact our Secretary for more information.
